Hispanic Summer Program 2020

Hispanic Summer Program 2020

Due to the worldwide situation with COVID-19, in consultation with the Executive Committee of the HSP Board, we have decided not to have an in-person program on the campus of Emory University/Candler School of Theology as we had planned.

Instead the HSP will go online!! Instead of just cancelling the program we will offer four (4) of the 7 classes we had announced and these will all be taught online. It is very exciting that the HSP will move in this direction because this means students will still have the opportunity to take these unique classes with some of the best Latinx faculty in the country!

Courses that will be offered June 2020:

Gender & Sexuality
Dr. Matilde Moros
University of Virginia Commonwealth
Decolonial Sexuality

Liturgical Studies
Dr. Cláudio Carvalhaes
Union Theological Seminary
Praying in Times of COVID19 and Other Disasters

Pastoral Care
Dr. Mayra Picos-Lee
Palmer School of Theology
Building Hope & Resilience in the Midst of Crisis & Pain

Dr. Benjamín Valentín
Yale Divinity School
Faith and Justice: An Intellectual History of U.S. Liberation Theology

NOTE: Students have already been admitted so the application process for the 2020 HSP is closed.
